Teach Elementary is a school of choice for students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade in San Luis Coastal Unified School District. Teach Elementary students learn district-adopted core curriculum in a condensed time frame. Students who have had academic success in reading, writing, and mathematics, and are ready for and want a challenge, are successful in our program. With a school-wide focus on innovation and exploration, Teach provides an academically rigorous environment for students who are ready for a deeper exploration of content and supplementary studies. Teach students experience a wide range of learning opportunities designed to both develop their strengths and challenge them in their areas of growth.
Our Guiding Principles
Challenging, rigorous academics increase student engagement.
Innovation and exploration develop students' critical thinking, problem solving, and entrepreneurship skills.
Leadership begins with students who own their learning.
Collaborative work allows students to be leaders and members of a team.
Environment nurtures social and emotional well being; all students need to feel they are an important part of the community and are in a safe space to be themselves and take academic risks in order to grow.
Awareness of the local and global community puts students in touch with real world problems, builds compassion, and provides opportunities to communicate and connect with authentic audiences.
Teach Elementary is proud to have earned recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School in 1992, 2012 and 2018, and as a California Distinguished School in 2010, 2014, and again in 2018. We were also proud to be a Honor Roll Scholar School in 2019-20, 2017-18, and 2016-17. We pride ourselves on providing a safe place for students to develop their strengths, and the desire and skills to persevere in areas for growth.
